Adults can be defined as animals or human beings that have reached their full development. In the context of human beings, the term "adult" may mean something related to legal or social concepts. An adult who is legally mature, in contrast to "minors" (also known as non-adults) can be defined as someone of the majority age and consequently considered responsible, independent as well as self-sufficient. They are also known as "majors" They can also be thought as having reached the age of majority. There is a general belief that the minimum age that a person legally matures is 18. However, this can be different based on rights under the law and country as well as psychological development.

If a person attains full physical and intellectual maturity, this is known as adulthood. Most people think that adulthood is attained when you are 20 or more. In general, middle age is around 40 years of age, and is followed by a period of around 60. At the point we are in early adulthood (20 to the early 40s), our physical maturation is completed, though the size and weight of our bodies may increase slightly. As we grow older, we are at the highest level of physical abilities.
